Lighthouses have, for centuries, protected mariners, their ships and cargo the world over. They were constructed as the most pragmatic solution to an, otherwise, unfixable problem. In other words, if it can be seen with the naked eye, place an enormous candle on top of it as a beacon. That fundamental approach has proven timeless as these structures still operate the same way today in the 21st century, albeit without the necessity of many, if not all, being manned. This element of timelessness is a reflection of not only their physical design but also their robust material construction and should be celebrated.
